codified

One website foradoption, care, support, and giving.

Michigan Humane’s website has to support very different decisions: finding a pet, getting veterinary care, asking for help, volunteering, or making a donation. Working with Franco, Codified helped organize those needs into a new WordPress experience and connect the systems behind it.

Challenge

Very different visitors. Very different levels of urgency.

Someone searching for a lost pet, someone booking a clinic visit, and someone setting up a monthly gift all arrive at the same homepage. Michigan Humane also runs multiple locations, events, fundraising campaigns and community programs, each with its own system behind it.

The redesign had to make each of those tasks clearer without hiding the substantial content operation that keeps the organization running.

Navigation

Organized around what people came to do.

The main navigation groups the site into Adopt, Get Help, Get Involved, Vet Care and About, so each audience has a clear starting point and urgent help is never more than a tap away.

The homepage splits into helping and getting help, with quick links for events, surrendering a pet, pet food, vet clinics and reporting cruelty.

Adoption

Live adoption data that feels native.

Feeds from PetPoint and Petango power the adoption grid, with filters for location, age and gender and pet detail pages built for phones. Visitors browse animals without being handed off to a third-party tool.

Vet care & locations

Three locations, one clear picture.

Clinic hours, phone hours, services and eligibility get confusing fast. Each location follows the same page structure, so visitors can see where to go, when to go, and what care is available.

Giving & engagement

Every supporter sees a next step.

Donations, advocacy, events, volunteering and fostering run on different platforms, including Engaging Networks, WooCommerce and The Events Calendar. The site connects those experiences so supporters always understand what they can do next.

Publishing

Built for the team that runs it.

The rebuild moved the site from Divi to Elementor with reusable templates and straightforward editing patterns, so staff can publish stories, events and updates themselves.

Mobile

Designed for the moments that can’t wait.

People don’t wait until they’re at a desktop to report cruelty, check clinic hours, or browse adoptable animals.
